Step onto the first tee of the 18-hole golf course at Waterlefe Golf and River Club and your idea of what makes up a great round of golf will change forever. Waterlefe Golf Club certainly raises the bar, letting golfers experience one of the best golf courses in Bradenton, Florida. The championship course was designed by NASA engineer turned golf course architect, Ted McAnlis - and it is a sight to behold.
The par 72 Waterlefe course boasts five sets of tees, each uniquely colored and named. For the hotshot golfers, the opportunity exists to play 6,908 yards of golf from the brown-colored Bobcat tees. Then, for those who want to take it easy and play from the front of the tee box, there are red-colored Otter tees. Regardless the level of play, golfers will be able to enjoy the beauty of the course as it meanders through preservation areas and bops along the picturesque Manatee River.
Golfers will encounter many challenges while they play on the Waterlefe course. One hole, the 9th, has over 200 yards of marshland between the green and the tee - with nothing else in between. Thanks to the beautiful Manatee River, water is found on almost every hole. In addition, there are vast marshes, scenic coves, and plenty of sand traps. Wildlife is abundant - many times golfers can catch a glimpse of a manatee in the river below. In all, the Waterlefe Golf and River Club is home to 622 acres, complete with magnificent homes, stunning landscaping, and a breathtaking riverfront.
Those unfamiliar with Bradenton will be pleasantly surprised. There are wonderful antique shops, restaurants with tasty menu items, a waterfront area, and many art galleries. People from across the globe can fly into Bradenton - with its international airport. They will also find Snooty, the manatee mascot of Bradenton, at the aquarium and can catch some spring training as the Pittsburgh Pirates warm up for a long season of Major League Baseball. In addition, it is just south of Tampa, Florida - for those who prefer a bigger city and plenty of action.
Although the Waterlefe Golf Club is separate from the River Club, together they have every amenity that one could want. Championship golf, nature trails, a marina with 59 boat slips, clubhouses, a saline pool, a fitness center, and much more can be found in this unique setting. The Golf Club has a club house and a pro shop with all the necessary items, as well. Lastly, the Grill has something to refuel every golfer after a fun day on the Waterlefe course.
