When Southern Dunes opened in 1993, golfers were immediately attracted to the stunning 18-hold golf course and the course quickly gained respect as an extraordinary golf facility in Central Florida. The Southern Dunes course was designed by internationally-renowned golf course architect, Steve Smyers. He created the 7227 yard, par 72 course to provide golfers of all levels of ability a unique golfing experience.
Smyers' vision was recognized by Golf Digest, as Southern Dunes received an architecture award for being one of the best courses in Florida. Additionally, Southern Dunes was ranked on a national level when it received Golf Week’s award for being one of the top 100 modern courses and Links Magazine’s award for being one of the top 10 courses built in the last ten years. Southern Dunes also is amenable to hosting tournaments throughout the year for corporate or charitable functions.
Located in Haines City, near Orlando and Kissimmee, Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club can be easily reached by many golfers through Central Florida. Haines City offers a close proximity to many tourist attractions, such as Disney World, Epcot Center, SeaWorld and Universal Studios. It is also relatively close to Tampa and the Atlantic Ocean for those who want to golf and splash in the water. Haines City itself has a historical downtown area with plenty of restaurants and a full calendar of events.
