Seminole Lakes Country Club – A Pleasant Surprise

Seminole Lakes Country Club – A Pleasant Surprise

By: David Theoret

Designed by Chic Adams, the Seminole Lake golf course opened in 1962. Seminole Lake Country Club offers 18 holes of championship golf and plays 6501 yards from the back tees. This par 71 course offers a total of five tee boxes, ensuring an enjoyable experience for golfers of all abilities. The greens are Sea Dwarf Paspalum and offer excellent playability with a smooth and true service. Warm up on the recently renovated driving range (range balls are included with greens fees); there is also a complete short game practice area and two large putting greens. Also included in the rate are lunch and a non-alcoholic beverage; so you can enjoy a leisurely round of golf, great food, and friendly service!

Memorable Holes

Seminole Lakes Country ClubNumber 4: Par 4, 376 yards. Don’t let the length of this hole fool you. Although cutting off the dogleg may seem like a great idea, it doesn’t always guarantee an easy second shot. As you line up your approach shot, it will seem that there is one huge bunker awaiting your shot. In reality, on of the bunkers is in front and one behind; this elevated green is very shallow but also very wide.

Number 7: Par 3, 190 yards. From the back tees this hole can be a brute; I doubt it is a piece of cake from the shorter tees either! A long tee shot over water is necessary to reach the green however if you are not feeling up to the task, you can bail out to the left. Going over the green, leaves a difficult up-and-down. The green is large enough, but well guarded by bunkers and of course, the water.

Number 10: Par 3, 186 yards. Not a bad hole to kick off the back nine. Water on the right side tends to attract golf balls, especially when the wind is blowing. The hole is uphill and thus plays a little longer; the green is huge with several undulations that can make for some pretty interesting putts. Take your par and run.

Number 15: Par 4, 379 yards. This dogleg right is built around a sizable lake. A long ball hitter can drive through the fairway, and a short hitter leaves a long second shot. A good tee shot will be left of the 150 yard marker; keep in mind, anything that fades right is going to be wet. The green is deceivingly long and fairly narrow. If you have to lay up on your 2nd shot, beware of the drainage ditch about 80 yards from the green.

Up until recently, it has been difficult to get on Seminole Lake Country Club however recently I have seen tee times available at some of the online tee sheets. For more information visit their website at www.seminolelake.net or give them a call at (727) 391-3318.
