When the Dubsdread Golf Course opened in 1923, it was considered to be on the outskirts of Orlando, Florida. By the time it was reconstructed in 2008, Orlando had grown significantly and it was considered to be in the midst of downtown. As one of Central Florida’s most historic golf courses, Dubsdread has had its share of momentous golfing events. It hosted the Orlando Open for several years and challenged some of the world’s greatest golfers, such as Sam Snead, Claude Harmon, Jimmy Demaret, and Ben Hogan.
Dubsdread Golf Course has something for golfers of every level of experience. There are three sets of tees on the 18-hole course, making it a great fit for beginner and experienced golfers alike. At 5,575 yards, the front tees will challenge beginner golfers, without frustrating them; however, advanced golfers will be equally challenged as they play a whopping 6,055 total yards from the back tees.
The yardage is only one of the challenges that golfers will face at Dubsdread Golf Course. White sand bunkers, palm trees, and moss-covered oaks work hand-in-hand to line the narrow fairways and protect the beautiful greens. In addition, there are several lakes and ponds that serve as water hazards, making accuracy one of the most important factors in each golfer’s game.
Golfers can take a break from a hectic workday or take clients out for a delightful golf outing, since Dubsdread Golf Course is located only a few minutes from the heart of downtown Orlando. Those who are vacationing can opt for day of golf, while their families are equally entertained by world-class fun at Walt Disney World Resort, Epcot Center, SeaWorld, and Universal Studios. Countless restaurants, chic boutiques, professional sports teams, and a thriving nightlife can all be found in Orlando, making it a great place to work, live, vacation, and play.
Although the remarkable golf at Dubsdread Golf Course is the main draw, there are also many extras available on-site. For example, the Tap Room Restaurant offers golfers and non-golfers a wide selection of fresh food. In fact, it has received many awards over the years, such as Best Power Lunch Spot, the Foodie Award, and a thumbs up from food critic, Scott Joseph. There is a beautiful clubhouse, complete with a relaxing veranda. The pro shop is fully stocked and the Dubsdread Golf Learning Center is perfect for all levels of golfers to learn a new technique or improve their swing. For night owls, the driving range is fully lit and it rounds-out the ultimate golfing experience.
